Two new faces to the faculty wasted no time in introducing innovating teaching practices to their classrooms at EdUHK.
Dr. Carla Briffett Aktas is a Lecturer at IELL. Dr. Sio Ut Na is an Assistant Professor at PS. Both received their PhD at Lancaster University in the UK.
Dr. Briffett Aktas taught in Canada, the UK and Switzerland before arriving at EdUHK, whilst Dr. Sio was a research scientist at Carnegie Mellon University in the US. “PS is a fast expanding Department. The interwoven talent of the faculty provides me with ample opportunity for collaboration.” Dr Sio said.
Dr. Briffett Aktas uses a free learning approach to teach Social Justice. She invites students to raise issues they want to explore.
Dr. Sio involves students in the online data collection process so that the sample size for research can be enlarged.
Through hiring talented staff and allowing them the freedom to innovate in the classroom and beyond, we strive to raise everything we do to the NEXT LEVEL to benefit our students.
