C&I's Dr Sammy Hui and Dr Rebecca Cheng of PS recently became Principal Lecturers after serving at the University for some years.
Dr Hui has won many training projects and has organized professional training to Hong Kong Fire Services Department, Hospital Authority and Hong Kong Institute of Construction. His students include supervisory engineers, medical professionals, firemen and more. As the programme leader of the Master of Teaching programme, he has had a big impact on both local and international students. As a teacher he is demanding, but beyond the classroom he is down to earth, celebrating students' birthdays and his genuine passion in helping students never fade away.
“Success is not measured by how much you possess, but how much you have offered, how many people you have changed and how they are touched by what you have done.” Dr Sammy Hui said.
Dr Cheng excels in teaching, research and programme administration. She is the winner of various teaching awards, and external and internal research grants. Having served as Associate Head of Department of Psychology she helped steer the accreditation of the department's programmes. Doing this earned her the President’s Award for Outstanding Performance in Administrative Services. As a specialist in educational psychology, she applied her research findings into lectures.
“Passion, perseverance and pleasure is my metrics for success. In addition to knowledge transfer, I attach great importance in shaping students’ attitude and motivating them. I believe this will fuel their personal growth in the long run.” Dr Rebecca Cheng said.
