Internationalisation in Action
FEHD at AERA 2019, Toronto, Canada

Over 300 international academics, researchers, and publishers attended the FEHD reception at the annual American Educational Research Association conference in Toronto this month.

FEHD staff joined around 15,000 academics and researchers at the event - the largest gathering of educational researchers in the world - to connect with international institutions, share cutting-edge work, and establish new research partnerships.

Staff from ECE, EPL, C&I, IELL, PS, SEC and SES gave papers, chaired sessions, and attended project and editorial board meetings. Below are just some of our contributions, others will be shared in other sessions.

EPL’s Dr Jang Sung Tae has won the AERA-RWE Selma Greenberg Outstanding Dissertation Award for his thesis Student Experiences and Educational Outcomes of Southeast Asian Female Secondary School Students in the United States: A Critical Quantitative Intersectionality Analysis.

FEHD’s Intercultural Research AoS held a symposium International Perspectives to “Talking Back” to Structural Racism and Exclusion in Education.  This allowed our researchers to speak about ways of fighting racism and exclusion in education.

Dr Ronnel King’s international symposium on self-regulated learning allowed academics to rethink self-regulated learning strategies.

Prof May Cheng’s session on connecting teaching with practitioner research looked at the relationship between practitioner research and teaching development.

Researchers from 29 countries, 129 universities and 9 organizations joined the FEHD evening reception. As our goal is to lead international conversation on educational research, the revolution shows that we are moving closer to that goal, as well as leading education in Asia.
