Counselling practicum is a significant event in counselling training. Counsellor trainees are required to complete 80 to 100 hours of supervised practicum in the second year of study. The minimum number of hours of supervised practicum is 80 hours. They are also required to attend 8 hours of individual and 20 hours of group supervision. Counsellor trainees are expected to practice individual and group counselling during the practicum. While performing all required tasks, trainees are interacting with other people in the school and community environment, under professional supervision. The counsellor trainees are expected to integrate professional ethics and counselling theories/skills into the practicum practice.
