Shynar Baimaganbetova is a PhD student in the EPL Department. She received her BA and MSc degrees from Almaty and Astana, Kazakhstan. Prior to joining the EdUHK, Shynar worked as an EFL instructor with young and adult learners. Her recent work experience involves a professional development program where she served as a trainer for English language teachers from vulnerable rural populations. Shynar’s current research project centers on youth aspirations and life transitions. Apart from academic life, she is passionate about interior and fashion design, mindful living, and dumplings.

Xeniya Belova is a PhD student at the Education University of Hong Kong. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Teaching English from the Eurasian National University in Astana, and her Master's Degree in Multilingual Education from Nazarbayev University in Astana.
Prior to entering EduHK, Xeniya worked as an administrator at Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Education.
Xeniya is passionate about research and her research project, which explores communication in multilingual and multicultural education environments in Kazakhstan and Hong Kong. Among non-research interests, she enjoys reading, learning foreign languages, traveling and painting.

Kuralay Bozymbekova is a PhD student of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Kuralay obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Birmingham in the UK and her Master’s degree specializing in Peace and Global Governance from Kyung Hee University in South Korea. Prior to joining EdUHK, she was an instructor at the Graduate School of Education of Nazarbayev University in Astana, Kazakhstan. Jet took his Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with distinction at Colegio de San Juan de Letran in Manila, Philippines where he also worked as the Student Research Coordinator and a Psychology instructor at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
A licensed psychologist and psychometrician, Jet completed his Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology from Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City, Philippines. He became involved in research projects related to parenting and adolescent decision-making.
As a graduate student, he is currently working on research projects in Positive Youth Development (PYD) and adolescent mental health.

CAI Qiuyun is currently an M.Phil. student in the ECE Department. She received her master’s degree in Chinese Linguistics and Language Acquisition at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and her bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature at Sun Yat-sen University. She worked as a research assistant at the CUHK and the City University of Hong Kong from 2019 to 2022 on a number of research projects in the early language development of monolingual and multilingual children, first language acquisition, and parent-child input-outcome relationships.

I graduated from Northeast Normal University with a Master’s degree in Psychology. My Master’s thesis explored morphemic ambiguity as a significant factor to investigate morpho-semantic processing in Chinese word recognition. Currently, I am working on visual statistical learning from a developmental perspective in pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology. My research focuses on exploring neural mechanisms associated with Chinese orthographic statistical learning by using event-related potentials (ERPs). Zhen received her BA in Hispanic Studies at Boston College and her MA in Social Sciences at the University of Chicago. Witnessing and experiencing the educational realities in the U.S., Latin America, and different regions in China has been a great asset to her and fueled her passion for educational research.

Ninh Nguyen is a PhD student at the Faculty of Education and Human Development.
She received her BA from Vietnam National University in Vietnam, and her MA from La Trobe University in Australia.
Before joining EdUHK, Ninh worked as a lecturer of Translation and Interpretation at Vietnam National University and an education consultant for the World Bank Group in Vietnam. Charla Rochella S. Saamong has an extensive teaching experience in the field of early childhood in the Philippines, particularly in the UP Child Development Center- a laboratory school for children from infancy until the age of six. Miss WU Xiaoyuan graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) from East China Normal University and Nanjing Normal University respectively. Now she will continue the ECE research at the Education University of Hong Kong. She believes that effective early childhood education is able to bring children a sweet and fruitful childhood, which makes it a discipline worthy for Xiaoyuan to pursue lifelong learning.

Thus, currently, my research concerns the interactions between individuals and their surroundings. Xingzhou is a Ph.D. student in PS. He received his Master’s degree in Social Work from City University of Hong Kong. Prior to pursuing his doctoral degree, he worked as a Research Assistant for over 4 years in Hong Kong. His previous research focused on the psychosocial well-being and development of children and adolescents. At present, his research interest primarily lies in the field of cyberbullying. In his leisure time, he likes doing sports, especially jogging and playing basketball.
